Mindanao to buy electricity from Visayas by 2020

A P52 billion Visayas-Mindanao Interconnection Project (VMIP) will connect power generating facilities in Mindanao and Visayas by 2020.

The project is a submarine cable system that will be laid down will have a capacity to transmit 400MW between Mindanao and Visayas as announced by Cynthia D. Perez-Alabanza, spokesperson and head of Corporate Communication and Public Affairs Department of National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), during the Press Briefing on the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) in Mindanao at Pidoks, Davao City held last February 21, 2017.
Osmeña has directed the Office of the Building Official (OBO) to withhold the building permit applications of around 31 medium- and high-rise buildings until the City can look into the matter more thoroughly.
